My Favourite Web Development Podcasts

Posted by Duncan McDougall on December 11, 2012

I listen to the odd web development podcast from time to time. Podcasts are a great way to learn from other web professionals as they talk about their workflow and best practises and for discovering new tools and frameworks you may have missed or where reluctant to use e.g. CSS pre-processors.

ShopTalk is a front end focussed podcast from Chris Coyier & Dave Rupert which is as casual as they come. Chris runs CSS Tricks, which is the StackOverflow of front end dev questions. Ask Google anything about CSS and it’s more often than not in the top three results. These guys catch up on the weeks hot drama in the industry as well as answering listeners questions with a weekly guest.

Web Ahead features Jen Simmons and her weekly guest talk about the future of the web. Recent topics have included the rise of web browsing on game consoles, IE10 and web audio.

The Big Web Show - Jeffery Zeldman’s weekly guests come from a wide variety of specialist areas in the web. Though the guests don’t always relate to something I touch at work personally, it’s great to get an insight into areas outside of my little zone of expertise like content strategy and the business of running a start up.
